This page links to a set of spreadsheets with data of pre1923 monograph holdings at Penn. Each file contains a worksheet with summaries. The Van Pelt and HDSF files also contain raw data from my Voyager extract. Raw data include 1) truncated Dewey and LC call numbers, 2) publisher dates as they appear in Voyager and 3) bib record counts. The data are limited to bib_format 'am' (books), and records that are NOT suppressed in the opac. To the fullest extent, I've tried to eliminate microforms and reprints, but the filtering may not be bullet proof. The raw worksheets are working documents, thus they include columns used to process and condense the raw data. I have raw data files for other locations and can email them to you if you'd like to see them. Beware, they are messy. As a point of comparison for the Composite data, check out this table from the Gerould Statistics. These began in 1912 and are the precursors of the ARL statistics. Note the counts are in volumes rather than titles. Refer problems to Joe Zucca . |
